Hello.

I have a bsod problem on my win 10 home computer. When I try to copy a file from computer to usb flash drive, i get bsod. I dont get bsod, when i copy a file from this usb flash drive to computer (for example to C: or desktop..). When I copy or move a file within this usb, no bsod. When I make a new file or directory in this usb flash drive, also no bsod. I have also tried this with other 2 usb flash drives. I have also checked all usb flash drives for HW errors or viruses, all good.

I have also checked HW on my computer, all good. I use legal windows 10 home and eset nod32. This PC is mostly for gaming and it is kinda clean install, because I have changed SSD drive recently (on C:)...No other bsod occured, just this one when copying onto usb flash drive.

After all HW and virus checks, i tried safeboot. And in safeboot, copying works well, no bsod. It is the only way how to use usb flashdrives...

in normal boot , USB keyboard, mouse and audiocard with headphones works well. Also printer is no problemo..

I tried googling this bsod, and most answers were about fight between encrypting program and antivirus program, but I have only the latter and i had no problems with it.

I tried uninstalling of antivirus program and (restarting ofc and) copying, no help, still bsod.

I attach dump files and printscreen of processes in safeboot.

I have no idea what could do this problems, so any suggestions are warmly welcome.

Hi, Welcome to BC.

Please always post your OS version and build # found in Settings-->System-->About (use Copy Button if available in your version) as there are cures and problems for each build and everyone is running something different.
Best practise would be to also include the above with the Motherboard make/model info, and/or what's in the box, chip, BIOS version, ram make and speed, GPU make/model would also be great info to be able to provide you with better informed help. Some info can be found be using Start Search type System Information.

Above is for fast look so do not have to dive through all dump files to find quick info.

Please note failed to attach Speccy URL : Please install Speccy Free  https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy/
Use Custom Install
At the Top Left Corner of Speccy --> Click File and then Click Publish Snapshot Report, a window will popup and Click YES. --> Another popup will appear and then Click "Copy To Clipboard" then Paste that "link" to your next reply in your thread or edit the above post.

In Bios turn off ASUS Fast Boot or anything for your make/model that increases the boot speed.
In Windows turn off Fast Start

I can never figure out Gigabyte BIOS versions but your info shows : BIOS Date: 10/31/16 11:49:31 Ver: 05.0000C     and as said version makes no sense to me.

But what does is your M/B Support Page and you need to be running BIOS Version F20 Released 2016/11/09  to Support your 7th Gen Intel Chip. In other wards you running a BIOS that does not support your chip.

Current version is F22f Released 2018/03/09  https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-Z170XP-SLI-rev-10/support#support-dl-bios

Suggest install your Chipset also.  As for the USB Drivers install : https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-Z170XP-SLI-rev-10/support#support-dl-driver-usb31

EDIT : Let us know how that works out before continue too much farther.

Hi ,thx for quick answers.

1. Firstly I have to correct you, its Z270XP-SLI, not 170. I have flashed bios to F9. No help. I did installed USB drivers prior to posting my issue in bleeping computer, it didnt help.

2. post your OS version and build

Názov zariadenia    DESKTOP-RC86RML
Procesor    Intel® Core™ i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz   3.60 GHz
Nainštalovaná pamäť RAM    16,0 GB

Kód Product ID    00326-00805-19328-AAOEM
Typ systému    64-bitový operačný systém, procesor typu x64
Pero a dotyk    Pre túto obrazovku nie je k dispozícii zadávanie vstupu perom ani dotykom

3. Speccy snapshot

4. dont want to turn off fast start atm. Everything works fine. I can copy from USB to PC, inside this USB, but not from PC  to USB. There should be some services that collide and make bsod. Cant think of anything else. I just changed M.2 ssd 256 gb slow for M.2 ssd 512GB fast in my PC, did my windows and other programs installation and I have this one issue, which I think doesnt coincede with this option turning off.

Staying tuned

Problem solved!

Installed windbg and windbg preview. v-Analalyzed! memory dump file. Found out culprit -> MeDlpFlt.sys

Then i googled a bit. Found answer ->  https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/bluescreen-after-usb-stick-system-service/3969f713-8cc9-493b-88f1-2df0fc84ce24

Or in short:

open commandline as admin and type:

sc config medlpflt start= disabled

Then restart PC and it should be ok. (at least here it is OK)

As for me, this topic can be closed. Issue is solved (at my site)

Well, I am pretty sure that I have not installed anything from them.

But!, my wife has an encrypted USB flash drive by a program from that vendor, and I honestly do not recall using it (her usb flash drive) in this computer. It is a stuff from her work, but she has been over a year at home (babysitting) and she doesnt use my computer at all...My computer locks up, you need a password to get into windows, when she wants anything, she asks me...
